KO-REEE-AHHH

So ummm... if you haven't heard already, or just have been living under a rock in Michele Bachmann's backyard, that guy (lady?) Kim Jong II died last night of heart failure, & mental and physical exhaustion. Yeah that's right, his little heart gave out on a train or something, ironic... I guess oppressing an entire nation is exhausting.
Speaking of Michele Bachmann, she probably woke up today and had to Google who Kim Jong II was amongst all of her other daily Zombie chores.
Anyway, all I remember from this guy (other than oppressing his people and basically terrifying the shit out of them) is that he had some KICK-ASS glasses. Like, what the heck is going to happen with them? Craigslist? eBay? Amazon? Shoot... Hook a sister UP.

Just look at these bad boys:

SWAG

He honestly puts Gaddafi and the guy form CSI: Miami to shame

2011, the year of televised court dates and the take-down of evil dictators

I can't help but laugh. And what's even funnier is that there's this movie with Sacha Baron Cohen called Republic Of Wadiya that makes fun of crazy-ass dictators

POSH! THE PRINCE - RE-BOKK ROBOT

POSH! THE PRINCE -- Music for thought.

Music Is My Hot Hot Sex

From all the drugs the one I like more is music
From all the junks the one I need more is music
From all the boys the one I take home is music
From all the ladies the one I kiss is music

It will be a year this April 2012 that I discovered the band, The Dirty Pearls, and the second time I have posted a blog about them. I am insanely bummed and upset that I have not made it to one of their shows lately but when I head back home to NYC after graduation from U of M, I'm grabbing a few drinks and heading straight to one, that is, if they're still playing around town. I say this because I see so much potential in their music, they seem to combine everything from rebel/heavy metal rock, to punk rock, to even a hint of 80's hairband in both their music and their persona. To me, if Kiss, The New York Dolls, and Poison had a music baby they'd called it The Dirty Pearls.
Dubbing themselves as part of the "Rivington Rebels," they have taken over the LES and in the process of spreading their infectious, high-energy music which I GUARANTEE you will not get out of your head for days. Saying they're everything SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK & ROLL might be cliche, but their music is everything but that. So put some headphones on, roll down your windows in your car, disrupt your neighbors, or whatever, just turn up the treble, and listen to Tommy London, Sunny Climbs, Tommy Mokas, Doug Wright and Marty E. blow you away.

6. Surge

The Coca-Cola Company ruined soda forever when they discontinued this fine beverage in 2003.

7. Magic Middles

The turbulent mid-90's took these delicious treats from our needy hands.

8. Ecto Cooler

Despite initially being simply a movie tie-in for 1984's Ghostbusters, Ecto Cooler disappeared in 2001, forever ruining the contents of your lunchbox.

9. 3D Doritos

Apparently the world wasn't ready for 3D snacks in the mid 2000's, and so this product ended its run all too early. I blame Avatar.

10. Crystal Pepsi

This great experiment in color was discontinued in 1993.

11. Squeezits

General Mills ruined snack-time forever in 2001.

12. Waffle Crisp

Has all but disappeared in recent years.

13. Oreo O's

The most delicious cereal of all time met its end in 2007. Except in South Korea!

14. PB Crisps

As the Planters Wikipedia article (very trustworthy) states, these goodies were “discontinued for being too delicious.”

15. Four Loko

The Man killed Four Loko in 2011. RIP FUN.

16. Josta

The first energy drink ever apparently ran out of fuel in 1999.

17. Uh-Oh Oreos

18. Wonder Balls

What's inside a wonder ball? Magic. And Nestle killed magic in 2004.

19. PB Max

Discontinued sometime in the 90's because the Mars family didn't like peanut butter. Seriously.

20. Orbitz

This ground breaking soft drink/floating dots hybrid met its end in 1997. Who cares if it tasted bad, it looked so DAMN COOL.

21. Mountain Dew Black/Livewire

Despite popular DEWmand, these drinks disappeared in 2004, and more recently in 2011.

22. Apple Fig Newtons

These delicious treats have disappeared without much warning in recent years.

23. Gatorade Gum

Gatorade was the first to learn that drinks and gum don't mix so well in the late 90's.

24. Heinz EZ Squirt

There is something just so damn awesome about colorful condiments. Or maybe just so damn gross. Either way, barf ketchup was discontinued in 2006.

25. The Supersize

Phased out of the McDonalds menu in 2004. Just once, just one more time, I'd like to say those wonderful words. And then puke.

Seriously I used to enjoy these things, especially M&M Crisps and Josta, sometimes even together. And Sprite Remix was THE shit, especially when throwing a few Skittles in the mix, YUMMMMM.
Wonderball was something that my brother and I would always get, and as we were opening it we'd sing the song from the commercial, "Wonder wonder what's in a a Wonder Balllll!"--Great times.

[MARRY THE NIGHT]

I'm So PROUD! Marry The Night was amazing and truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your vision of a hurtful past. She really hits home, for me, in this video; going through hard times, rejection (both inner and outer), strife, and loathing reality like she says.
Stef really out did herself with this video, she completely tops, closes the hatch and buries Bad Romance.

Not one of the 99. Go Occupy Something else.

This Occupy Wall Street or whatever is getting old. I just watched a 8 min video (link at the bottom) of kids getting Pepper sprayed by a cop while their fellow cop friends, holding cheap paintball guns, stand surrounded by UCLA-Davis students. You don't even have to look hard to see almost everyone on campus has an iPad, MacBook, smart phone, laptop, North Face Jacket, and other name-brand bags, clothes and technology.
If they really cared about making something work on favor of themselves, they could get a job, pay for school, pay for rent, eat in and not go out. It's not that hard to figure out that this is all happening because our society has become selfish and needing to be carried to every new feature that is out on our world, whether it be technology, school, clothes and even where we choose to live. (For example, I live at home and have 2 jobs of which I pay everything on a daily basis, which is close to nothing).
Yes, I have the new iPhone 4S, but I worked hard, managed my money, and paid for it myself, without any complaint that our government had anything to do with it.
Yes, I agree, our government has screwed us over on many ways, but it does have a lot to do with they way we live too. Our government along with the "head honchos" of companies and businesses were not all born with Silver Spoons in their mouths; some were average students, just barely making it by. What really needs to be done is some sort of example out on the people supposedly protesting for fairness or whatever they have been doing on Wall Street an in places such as California's universities, along with my own here at U of M.
Greatness and success is not handed to us, it is done by hard work and dedication.

^^^The cops don't want to hurt you. In pictures and a blog of a friend, who brought his fake Press badge and a Cannon Professional Camera on Wall Street, some cops commented by saying, "I'm gonna start swinging," with a smile on their faces.
Instead of standing outside, looking like an idiot, GO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

Lioness: Hidden Treasures

Today it’s been announced that on the 5th December, “Lioness: Hidden Treasures“, the third album from Amy Winehouse, without question one of the most talented, original, and best loved artists to emerge in popular music for decades, will be released through Island Records.
Following her tragic passing in July, some of the producers and musicians who worked closely with Amy Winehouse, among them Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, spent time listening over the many recordings that Amy had made, before, during, and after the release of “Frank” and “Back To Black”. It was said by all who worked with Amy that she never sang or played a song the same way twice. It quickly became apparent to Salaam and Mark that they had a collection of songs that deserved to be heard, a collection of songs that were a fitting testament to Amy the artist and, as importantly, Amy their friend.
The 12 track collection features previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions of existing classics as well as a couple of brand new Amy compositions, and has been compiled by long-time musical partners Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson in close association with Amy’s family, management and record label Island Records. “Lioness : Hidden Treasures” proves a fitting tribute to the artist, the talent and the woman and serves as a reminder of Amy’s extraordinary powers as a songwriter, a singer and an interpreter of classics.
The full tracklisting is as follows:
“Our Day Will Come (Reggae Version)” – reggae re-working of classic 60’s doo wop song produced by Salaam Remi. Recorded May 2002.
“Between The Cheats” – new Amy composition recorded in London in May 2008 for potential inclusion on album three produced by Salaam Remi.
“Tears Dry” – originally written by Amy as a ballad, this is the original version she recorded in November 2005 in Miami with Salaam. The later uptempo version appears on “Back To Black”.
“Wake Up Alone” – the first song recorded for the “Back To Black” sessions. This is the one-take demo recorded in March 2006 by Paul O’Duffy.
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” – Amy’s beautiful reading of the Carole King written Shirelles classic. Produced by Mark Ronson and featuring the Dap Kings with string arrangements by Chris Elliott who did all the strings for Mark’s tracks on “Back To Black”. Recorded in September 2004.
“Valerie” - one of Amy’s jukebox favourites. This is the original slower tempo version of the Mark Ronson produced post “Back To Black” single. Recorded in December 2006.
“Like Smoke” featuring NAS – Amy and Nas became really good friends after Amy name checked the New York rapper on “Back To Black’s” “Me & Mr Jones”. “Like Smoke” is finally Amy doing a song with one of her favourite artists. Produced by Salaam Remi. Recorded in May 2008.
“The Girl From Ipanema” – the first song the 18 year old Amy sang when she first went to Miami to record with Salaam. Salaam remarked that “the way she re-interpreted this bossa nova classic made me realise that I was dealing with a very special talent. Her approach to the song was so young and fresh, it really inspired the rest of our sessions.” Recorded in May 2002.
“Halftime” - Amy had talked to Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson of the Roots about working together. “Halftime” is a song that Amy and Salaam had worked on since the Frank sessions. The result is beautiful. Recorded in August 2002.
“Best Friends” – “Frank” era live set opener produced by Salaam Remi. Probably the first song that early Amy fans would have heard live. Recorded in February 2003.
“Body & Soul” with Tony Bennett - cover of 30’s jazz standard with hero Tony Bennett. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios London in March 2011 and produced by Phil Ramone. Amy’s final studio recording.
“A Song For You” - heartbreaking and emotional version of the Leon Russell classic made famous by Donny Hathaway. Hathaway was Amy’s all-time favourite artist and the song was recorded in one take, just Amy and her guitar, at her home in London during the spring of 2009 as she battled her demons. Produced by Salaam Remi.
